Big first period leads Lakers over Excelsiors

A seven-goal first period led the Peterborough Lakers to an 11-6 win over the Brampton Excelsiors Thursday at the PMC.

Dylan Hutchison, Jake Withers, Austin Hasen, Holden Cattoni, Owen Hiltz, Matt Gilray, and Joe Resetarits all scored in the first-period outburst. Lucas Ferreira, James Whiteford, and Holden Patterson responded.

Things slowed down in the second period. Hasen and Hiltz netted their second goals of the game, while Seth VanShepen replied between the two Laker goals.

The Lakers bookended the third-period scoring as well, with Adam Thistlewaite and Cattoni. Patterson and Josh Medeiros scored for the visitors.
