Lakers take 3-1 stranglehold of MSL final
The Peterborough Lakers used a balanced attack and tough defence to hand the Six Nations Chiefs a 12-5 loss at the Peterborough Memorial Centre Tuesday.
The Lakers victory gives them a 3-1 series lead in the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse final.
Holden Cattoni, Thomas Hoggarth, Shawn Evans and Mark Matthews scored in the first period to pace the Lakers.
In the second period, the Lakers domination continued with Joe Resetarits netting a pair of goals, while Cattoni, Matthews, Matt Gilray and Evans added singles.
Vaughn Harris scored the lone Chiefs goal.
The Chiefs mounted a comeback in the third period thanks to a pair from Lyle Thompson, with singles coming from Joey Cupido and Harris. Cattoni and Hoggarth replied for the Lakers.
NOTES: Doug Buchan made 36 stops in the win for the Lakers. Warren Hill and Doug Jamieson split the goaltending duties. Game 5 of the MSL final is Friday at 8pm at the ILA.
